School-wide Special Project Grant


DETAILS:

  • The purpose of this fund is to encourage creative projects for the purposes of a school-wide event or project which may support school community building, school goals, instructional practices and/or curriculum outcomes.
  • Budget will be set for this fund on a yearly basis; Up to $10,000 will be allocated initially with a possibility of increasing this budget midway through the school year.
  • A maximum of $2000 will be funded per application with a total of 5 applications per school year.
  • Example activities/events: field trips, performances, presenters, Stardome, mural, artists in the school, field day, school barbecue; family events relating to instructional practices (e.g. literacy or math night, family art/music/dance workshops), release time sub costs for project planning/professional learning.


CRITERIA:

  • A minimum of one applicant must be a MAME member
  • The application must clearly state project outcomes which support school community building, school goals, instructional practices and/or curriculum outcomes.
  • This project must include/benefit all students. 
  • One application per project will be considered.
  • If applying through divisional/school/other funding, the applicant must include the amount being received on the application; proof of receipts submitted to other organizations may be requested to indicate what was paid by other sources
  • Members/Executive may only access one Project Funding opportunity a year (Special Projects Grant and School-wide Special Projects Grant). This does not exclude them from applying for PD funding or Tuition in the same year.
  • Members/Executive cannot apply for more than 1 project of this same funding type for two consecutive years (for example, if they applied for a School-wide Special Project Grant, they cannot apply for a School-wide Special Project Grant the next year, but can apply for Special Projects, Tuition or PD funding);  i.e. A school cannot receive School-wide Special Projects Funding for two consecutive years. 


PROCESS:

  • Applicants must complete the “Application for School-wide Special Projects Grant” by May 15th of the current school year (September-August)
  • Event must be completed by June 15th with all receipts submitted for reimbursement by June 20. (Special consideration will be given based on timing of the event. Reimbursements of receipts handed in throughout June may not be given until MAME Executive meets again in September.) Reimbursement will be made to the applicant and/or the school.
  • Funding will be granted based on criteria and at the committee's discretion. Applications can be submitted as of the first day of school in September. You will be notified within 10 working days of your application.
  • Applicants will be reimbursed for funds upon completion of the activity once the following are submitted
  • Original receipts that are submitted to MAME
  • “School-wide Special Projects Grant Reimbursement” form filled out completely
  • Photocopied receipts for funds that were accessed through another organization (school/division) – if necessary
  • Copy of reimbursement form used to access funds through another organization (school/division) – if necessary
  • All forms must be submitted in one email as a PDF or Word document attachments
  • Applications will be received on the first Tuesday after Labour Day; voting will occur within 10 days after receipt of application
